bobbob Pty Ltd is committed to providing quality services to you and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your Personal Information.

We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information.

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual.

Examples of Personal Information we may collect:

  • contact details and important information about your identity – for example your name, address, mobile number, email address, date of birth, passport number and drivers licence number;
  • biometric information, for example video footage or photographs of your face you provide to us when creating your account;
  • financial and transaction information, such as your source of funds, bank account information, transaction history, or other proof of income or net worth;
  • your account information;
  • records of your correspondence with us (including any complaints or enquiries you have made);
  • when you use the app or our website – your location information, IP address and any third-party sites you access; and
  • other information we think is necessary;

How we collect your information

This Personal Information is obtained in many ways including from the bobbob mobile app during onboarding and from third parties.

We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties.

Most of the personal information we collect about you will come directly from you (for example, when you sign up to the bobbob app, or when you deal with us through correspondence). We’ll also collect information about you when you use our services and products (for example, when you use your account with us to make transactions).

Sometimes, we might need to collect personal information about you from others, such as:
‍

  • the operating system software on your phone (including location software on your phone) and your device;
  • other organisations who, jointly with us, provide products or services to you; and
  • our service providers (such as companies that provide fraud prevention services and identity verification services; and
  • public registers or social media.

We’ll ask you before we do this if we’re required by law to do so. We will usually require you to identify yourself to access any of our services. If you do not provide us with your personal information , we may be unable to provide or administer the products or services you have requested.

Processing your personal information

In general, we won’t use or share personal information collected about you other than for a purpose set out in this privacy policy, for a purpose you would reasonably expect, a purpose required or permitted by law, or a purpose that we have told you about (or that you have agreed to).

We collect your Personal Information for the primary purpose of providing our services to you, ensuring we remain compliant with ASIC and AUSTRAC, providing information to our clients and for marketing purposes. We may also use your Personal Information for secondary purposes closely related to the primary purpose, in circumstances where you would reasonably expect such use or disclosure. You may unsubscribe from our mailing/marketing lists at any time by contacting us via email or in-app.

When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it.

More specifically, we may process your personal data for one or more of the following purposes:
‍

  • to verify your identity in accordance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) requirements;
  • to perform sanctions screening on you in compliance with all required sanctions screening processes imposed by, for example, the United Nations, European Union, UK Treasury and US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and to take measures to prevent transacting with individuals, companies and countries appearing on these sanctions lists;
  • to manage and maintain your account with us;
  • to detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorised use of our products and services;
  • to better manage our business and your relationship with us, including for purposes of quality control and staff training to make sure we continue to provide you with accurate information, products and services;
  • to improve our products and services, and to develop new products and services;
  • to notify you about benefits and changes to the features of our products and services;
  • to provide you with personalised advertising and marketing;
  • to respond to your enquiries and to resolve disputes;
  • in relation to legal claims, compliance, audit, risk management, law enforcement processes and regulatory functions; in connection with the acquisition, merger or sale of a business.

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include information or opinion about such things as an individual's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, membership of a political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, criminal record or health information.

Sensitive information will be used by us only:
‍

  • For the primary purpose for which it was obtained;
  • For a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose; and
  • With your consent; or where required or authorised by law.

Third Parties
‍

Where reasonable and practicable to do so, we will collect your Personal Information only from you. However, in some circumstances we may be provided with information by third parties. In such a case we will take reasonable steps to ensure that you are made aware of the information provided to us by the third party.

Disclosure of Personal Information

Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:

  • Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
  • Where required or authorised by law.


We may share your personal data with any person that works for us or for one of our group companies; financial and other institutions we partner with to provide our products and services and companies and organisations that provide services to us, including in relation to technical infrastructure, marketing and analytics, and web and app development.

We will otherwise treat your personal data as private and confidential and will not share it with other parties except:
‍

  • where you have given us permission to do so;
  • where we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with any law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, 
  • to enforce our Terms of use or other agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our customers or others;
  • where we may transfer rights and obligations pursuant to our agreement with you.

Security of Personal Information

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

Access to your Personal Information
‍

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

Bobbob Pty Ltd will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.

In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information.

Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information
‍

It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We  will  take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.

Electronic Marketing


We may share information about our products, services, news and promotions with you unless you opt-out. We may do this by email, SMS or any other electronic means including via the bobbob website and app.

We may also market our products to you through third party channels (such as social networking sites), or via other companies who assist us to market our products and services. We may also use de-identified data to help place communications in the media that are most relevant to you.
